The Monroe County Finance Department operates under the authority of the “County Financial Management System of 1981” (TCA 5-21-101 through 5-21-129). The Centralized Finance Office is responsible for administering the finances for all funds of the various departments, agencies and boards of Monroe County Government (including financial activities of the Monroe County Board of Education).
In addition to its responsibility for managing Monroe County’s financial affairs, the department provides advice and information to Monroe County elected and appointed officials, employees, and citizens.
Departmental focus includes, but is not limited to purchasing, accounts payable, accounting, budgeting, payroll, insurance, cash management, and County fixed assets (land, buildings and equipment).
